When you work out at sea every day, you need partners you can trust. You need reliable equipment. You need a dp2 dive support vessel that is solid. For example, you need Petrolog’s dive support vessel (DSV), DSV VINNICE.
What is a DSV Vessel?
DSV stands for Dive Support Vessel – specialized offshore ships designed to support commercial diving operations. These DSV ships provide accommodation, life support systems, and dynamic positioning capabilities essential for deep-sea diving projects. DP2 DSV vessels like the VINNICE offer enhanced positioning redundancy for safer operations.
DSV Technical Specifications
The DSV VINNICE is a workhorse built to withstand the toughest of conditions. This DP2 dive support vessel has an ABS class certification with a deadweight of 3,200 tons. It is 85 meters long with a beam of 22 meters.
The working deck offers 730 square meters of open working space, and the helipad is used for the transfer of personnel and equipment when the vessel is at sea.

Bridge and Control Center: DP2 Dynamic Positioning System
The bridge is the nerve center of the vessel. It is 150 square meters in area and has a panoramic view of the diving equipment, deck area, and the surrounding waters. It also offers round-the-clock CCTV monitoring of the inside and outside of the ship, including the mooring winches and diving chambers.
The bridge is equipped with the latest DP2 and mooring controls, as well as navigational equipment. Its communication equipment keeps the officers and DP operators in constant contact with the deck and diving supervisors during DP and mooring operations.
The bridge is hardwired to all rooms, offices, diving controls, and equipment centers. There are also 15 handheld radios for constant fixed and portable communications during all operations.
Power and Propulsion Systems
The two main engines are Japanese-built Niigata six-cylinder units. These engines have a reliable diesel design that has been trusted in all types of marine environments for over 70 years. The engines drive the two Niigata as well as the Stone drives, the shaft generators for the two bow thrusters, and the two firefighting pumps.
The vessel’s power is supplied by four Caterpillar main generators as well as emergency generators, so clients can be assured that the power supply is steady. The engine and generator readings can be constantly monitored in the engine watch room on the tween deck.
Health and Safety Systems on DSV Ships
Working at sea can be risky. That’s why health and safety is a top priority. The VINNICE has a fully functional hospital and a team of qualified medical staff. It has state-of-the-art firefighting equipment, including water and water mist for the interior of the vessel, a seawater deluge system for its exterior, and fire monitors. Should a life-threatening emergency occur, the crew will rely on two 75-man lifeboats and eight 25-man life rafts.
Client Facilities and Amenities
Even though the VINNICE is robust and functional, it also offers modern-day amenities. Clients can enjoy the convenience of private offices and spacious conference facilities. A project office is provided for the management of vessel operations. A client office with direct access to the diving system is also available. It is fully equipped with internet access and network connection and printing facilities.
Crew Accommodation and Living Quarters
The offices deck houses a well-equipped office located on the bridge. It is used by the captain and crew. There is a private cabin available for the captain. The cabin has its own bathroom, telephone, and other amenities.

There is also an onboard internet cafe. The crew can utilize eight computers for browsing the web and communicating with friends and family via email or Skype. At the end of a hard day’s work, crew members can blow off some steam at the fitness center.
Saturation Diving System: The Heart of DSV Operations

But what really sets the VINNICE apart is its saturation diving system. This ABS-approved system is rated to 300 meters seawater and is safely deployed through the moon pool of the vessel. It can house nine divers, and it has a three-man bell rated to full internal and external pressure.
The system includes a hyperbaric rescue chamber to safely evacuate divers in an emergency. Its gas kellys can store up to 10,400 cubic meters of gas.
